Rona Pine Polk Miller was born on October 21, 1947, to the late Roscoe Polk and Bertha Cash Polk. Rona was the youngest of seven siblings.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, God called her name, and said, β My child you have suffered long enough, come where you feel no more pain.β Rona quietly answered His call.
Rona was a graduate of the East Polkton High School, Class of 1965.
After graduation, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. Shortly after being there, she began working. She landed a job at Metropolitan Life Insurance as an Office Clerk where she worked until she returned to North Carolina to live. Rona also worked at Bloomsburg Mills and Chelsa Laboratory until the plant closed in Monroe, NC. Rona enrolled in South Piedmont Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree. She worked as a Ward Clerk at Lillie Bennett Nursing Home until she retired.
She served her community by working with the Board of Elections during voting time. Rona was longtime member of the East Polkton School Alumni Association, where she served as Treasurer.
Rona was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Usher President, served on the kitchen committee, and was part of the Senior ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Bertha Polk; her brothers, Eugene Sturdivant and Pellon Polk; and her sisters, Carol, Ollie, and Maude Polk.
On March 5, 1977 she was united in marriage to the late David Lee Miller, Sr. To this union two children were born, David Lee Miller, Jr. of Peachland, NC and Travis S. Miller (De Erica) of Wadesboro, NC.
She was blessed with two bonus daughters, Rubinelle Hall (Stan) of Rock Hill, SC and Sonya Agurs (Jermaine) of Bradenton, FL. Granddaughters, Danielle (son, Jayden), Enacence, DβAirah, and grandson, Travis Jr. and an additional five grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren. One sister, Lucy Bennett of Peachland; a special niece whom she loved as a sister, Rosemary Sturdivant of Polkton, NC; one aunt, Mary G. Polk Wright of Monroe, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special neighbor/son, Mike Allen (Shenita) who was always there to lend a helping hand on fixing things. Rona loved her family and will be truly missed by those who loved her.
The Miller Family will greet family and friends on Friday, July 3, 2026 from 12:30-1:00pm and at all other times at the residence of Mrs. Rosemary Polk Sturdivant, Sister, Burnsville Community, Polkton, NC.

It saddens our family to hear of the passing of Ms. Rona. Ms. Rona worked with my mother at Lillie Bennett, and she has been a part of our family ever since. There has never been a moment that we ran into her/her sisters that we did not hug and share love. We will keep the family lifted in our thoughts/prayers!
