Mrs. Sarah Ann Broadway McGee, daughter of the late Rinzo Broadway and Laura Ann Ledbetter Broadway, was born March 11, 1938 in Union County, North Carolina. She received her heavenly wings on Friday, December 23, 2022.
Sarah received her education through the Union County School system. Thereafter, she was united in holy matrimony to the late James McGee. From this union they had four children. She was employed by Compass Group, Charlotte, N.C. and retired after numerous years of service. She was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she served on the Hym Choir and Kitchen Committee. Sarah was a person when you met her she became known as your mother, never met a stranger. She loved to travel, cook and spend time with her family and friends. She loved sitting on her porch and became known as the “porch lady.” She always said, “Give me my flowers while I am living.” She received many.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James McGee; one daughter, Teresa McCorkle; brother, Coleman John Broadway and grandson, Jeffrey McGee.
Left to cherish her precious memories: three daughters, Peggy McGee (Tara) of Clinton, Maryland, Sarah Renee Scott (Carlos) of Charlotte, NC and Regina Paplion (Anthony) of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Lorine Marsh of Central Islip, New York; one aunt, Myrtle Haywood of Mount Gilead, NC; grandchildren: Andre, Eric, Miranda, Antonio, Nicole, Jasmine, Jessica, Serenity, Shalonda, Quisha, Janna, Renitra, Raniey and Antraverus; great grands: Jalen, Martrai, Jordyn and Josiah. Eight sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022, 1:00pm, Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Burnsville Community, Polkton, North Carolina.
Interment will be on Monday, January 2, 2023, 12:00 noon, Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens, 11201 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville, North Carolina 28078.
