Sarah Etta White Byrd was born October 7, 1946, in Anson County, North Carolina, to the late Luther Ruben White and Sarah Phillips White. She passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 11:14 am at Atrium Health Care.
Sarah attended East Polkton High School and South Piedmont College. She retired from Union County Head Start as a Teacher.
Sarah was a loving person who loved the simple things of life. She always enjoyed working in and with her flowers. She loved going shopping, watching her soaps, and going to the beach. She was also a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
Sarah was married to John Thomas Byrd for 57 years, and to this union, one son was born, John Derek Byrd.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Sarah White; five sisters, Pearlene Hubbard, Bernice Davis, Gladys White, Dorothy Barrino, and Vylean Harris; and four brothers, Lee J. White, Frank White, Edward White, and Thomas White.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, John Derek Byrd, of the home; two sisters, Elsie M. White of Polkton, North Carolina, and Irene Ledbetter of Charlotte, North Carolina; her beloved church family; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Sunday, October 27, 2024, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow at Westview Memorial Park, Polkton, North Carolina.
The Family will greet family and friends on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 12:30-1:00 pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
The public viewing will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 3:30-5:00pm at Smith’s Funeral Home.
