In his infinite wisdom, GOD our Heavenly Father, who doeth all things well, called Velma “Yodie” Moses-Capel on Monday, October 11, 2021.
Velma was born in Fort Hood, Texas on January 25, 1958 to the late Daniel and Evelma Moses. At an early age, Velma accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church. Her Christian faith blossomed when she became a faithful member of the Greater St. Mark Church in Wadesboro, NC. She was a light that would brighten any corner. Her magnificent glow was evident throughout her wonderful Christian life.
Velma graduated Bowman Senior High School, Class of 1978 in Wadesboro, NC. As a devoted and dutiful servant of the Greater St. Mark Church of Deliverance, she served on the Usher Board, Sister to Sister Support group and Sunday School Teacher. As a servant and dedicated member, Velma, received the 2021 Member of the Year award.
Velma tirelessly gave of herself as a caregiver to family members as well as members in the Anson and surrounding counties. She had a kind heart with a warm spirit. She enjoyed gardening and beautifying her home. For those who knew her would attest, when in her presence, whether on the phone or in person, she would always greet you with “Praise the Lord!”
Velma was preceded in death by her late husband, William Capel. She leaves to cherish her memories two loving children, Damale Moses and La-Donya Lewis both of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandkids, Cheyanne, Ka’Shon, Khamari, Ja’Quay, Tiara, Kiara, Damale Jr., Xavier, Imez, Sincere and Saniyah’ three brothers, Harland (Priscilla) Moses of Rockingham, NC, Jerry Moses and Marven Moses both of Morven, NC; one sister, Gail (Chris) Gaddy of Charlotte, NC; two aunts, Shelby Washington of Morven, NC and Carolyn Lee of Morven, NC. A host of loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Services were held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, 3:00pm, Smith Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment was in Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
