Minister Barbarie Verna Kirby Spencer, known to her family, friends and loved ones as โPuchieโ, was born to the late Mr. James Thomas Kirby and Mrs. Winnie Kirby on February 2, 1963 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. Her earthly assignment ended on June 26, 2022. She is now in a resting peace.
She attended and graduated from Bowman Senior High School with the elite Class of 1981. After working in a local manufacture, she devoted time to her home daycare-Spencerโs Daycare, in Morven, NC. She provided love, affection, and security for many children, families, and parents of Anson County for over 22 years. After retirement, her works were extended to all as a confidant, friend, and prayer warrior. She exuded a strong faith, undeniable courage, and an abundance of love for all.
Minister Barbarie Spencer was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Morven, NC where she served as God so charged her to. Minister Spencer was licensed in 2009 under the leadership of the late Elder Leroy Hough of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic, Wadesboro, NC. Her faith and love for God lived in her and was trajected through her contagious smile and her willingness to be a light for others.
She enjoyed cooking soulful meals, gathering around family, singing, interceding for others, and bargain shopping. She also enjoyed fellowshipping and visiting with other churches as her health would allow her to-She loved to serve God. Her outer strength was fueled by providing for and loving on her children and her only grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Thomas Kirby; mother, Winnie Kirby; three of her sisters, Brenda Spencer (Paul), Thomasina Smith (John), and Dorothy Harrington (Timothy) and brother-in-law, Elder Leroy Hough.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories; her son, Everrette I. Gabriel, Jr., her daughter, Erika L. Gabriel, her beautiful granddaughter Ivory Rose Pratt; sister, Elizabeth Hough; brothers, James (Debra) Kirby and Levana Kirby; sister-in-law, Joanne Kirby; many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends-Especially Oscar Streater. She will be missed dearly but her compassion to spread love will forever live in each of us.
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, July 2, 2022, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow at Morning Star Redeem Church of God Cemetery, Lilesville, North Carolina.
