Brianna Sumone’ Boggan was born November 28, 1996 to Kenjii Latoya Boggan. She answered God's call to be with the Lord on June 7, 2025.
Brianna attended the public schools of Anson County, North Carolina. She pursued her passion for learning, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Epidemiology from UNC-Greensboro, followed by a Master’s degree in Public Health from UNC-Charlotte. She worked as a Program Coordinator for over 11 local Health Departments under the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, while actively serving in the Army Reserve.
Brianna was a proud member of the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the first historically African American Greek-lettered sorority. She embraced the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and service that the organization instilled in her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Emma Louise Boggan and Steven Lee Boggan, who played pivotal roles in Brianna's life.
Brianna's life was enriched by her strong faith as a devoted member of New Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Polkton, NC where she uplifted other with her kindness and dedication to her community.
In addition to her loving mother, Kenjii, Brianna leaves behind a cherished family who will lovingly remember her: her sisters, D’Asia Celeste’ Lindsey of Wadesboro, NC who was her world, Bracie Marshal of Ansonville, NC and Corderia Marshall Strayhorn of High Point, NC; two aunties , Tasha Ann Boggan, more like her big sister, of Charlotte, NC and Camilla Thompson (Keith) of Charlotte, NC. One uncle, Michael Lee Boggan (Karen) of Monroe, NC; her first cousins, K’Mya Thompson, Kayla Thompson and Tevin Polk all of Charlotte, NC; bonus dad, Alexander Broadway of Polkton, NC; godmother, Shadonna Harris of Wadesboro, NC); a host of great aunts and uncles; special cousins/best friends, Makala Caple and Royal Prescod; best friends, Brittany Tyson and Tomeka Rorie, along with numerous cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Ms. Boggan will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
