MS. CHRISTINA WILLOUGHBY
Ms. Christina Willoughby was born on December 28, 1924 in the Bethel Community of Morven, North Carolina. She was the only child of William “Bud” and Nancy Little Willoughby. She peacefully entered Heaven on Monday, July 6, 2020.
As a young child, Christina accepted Christ and joined Gatewood Station A.M.E. Zion Church. She later moved her membership to Kesler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a faithful member that served God by serving others.
Christina graduated from Morven High School and attended Paine’s College in Georgia until her health forced her to return home.
She was a dedicated worker at Faison School for many years, making sure that every child received a healthy lunch and an encouraging word. She later went to work at West Knitting Mill until retirement. She lived by the code of loving God and doing her best to help others.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Bud.
Christina will be deeply missed by her family and friends: two sons, Bruce (Fannie) Willoughby of Salisbury, NC, Ervin (Beverly) Willoughby of Tacoma, WA; one daughter, Nancy (Chris) Harrington of the home; her daughter-in-law, Virginia Willoughby of Fort Mill, SC; one Goddaughter, Linda Campbell of Reisterstown, MD; seven grandchildren…four that she shared in the caring of, Stephanie, Christopher (Tracy), Tiffany and Alexandra (Miguel); six great-grandchildren; a caring Godsister, Minnie Lou Paige; a loving cousin, Edith Smith of Badin, NC; three special friends, Thomas Chambers, Jackie Spencer and Mary Smith; and a host of cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Services to celebrate Mother Willoughby's life and legacy were held on Saturday, July 11, 2020, 11:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment was in the family plot of Madison Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
Our family is so sorry to hear of Mrs. Christine's passing. We have known her and her children just about all of our lives. She was a good neighbor and a good person' She will truly be missed' God bless the family.
