Obituary For Ms. Emma Ruth Dunlap

Ms. Emma Ruth Dunlap, 57, of Ansonville, NC departed this earthly home on July 4, 2023 at Atrium Health-Anson, Wadesboro, NC. Emma was born to the late James and Emma Lee Smith-Dunlap of Ansonville, NC and was the baby of eight (8) children. Emma was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Julia (Tennie) Dunlap, Ms. Alberta Dunlap, Ms. Mary Virginia Dunlap and one brother, Willie J. Dunlap.

At an early age, Emma confessed Christ where she joined Cedar Hill AME Zion Church in Ansonville, NC. She was an active member and served her church faithfully. She graduated from Bowman Senior High School in the year of 1984. Throughout her life, Emma was employed with Collins & Aikman of Norwood, NC in the textile industry and then proceeded into Home Health Care.

Ms. Emma Ruth Dunlap leaves behind her daughters, Ciarra and Kenterria Dunlap of Concord, NC and her granddaughter, Demi Collins of Concord, NC as well. One sister, Carolyn Dunlap, two brothers, Johnny “Bone” Dunlap and Mack Dunlap and one sister-in-law, Tanga Dunlap all residing in Ansonville, NC.

Emma had a host of nieces and nephews in which she had the pleasure of being a part of their lives: Jamaine Horne of Mt. Gilead, NC, Deidra Dunlap-Little of Ansonville, NC, Anthony Dunlap of Albemarle, NC, Lashundra and Tia Horne of Ansonville, NC, Anjelica McLendon of Silver Spring, MD, Veronica and Lester Davis of Ansonville, NC, Kamala and Marguis Dunlap of Ansonville, NC.

Great Nieces and Nephews: NaQuan, Sha’Varrick, X-Zavion, Ty’Niya , Mariah, Jatwann, Keiosha, Laynala, Karon, Sincere, Kayden, Nasir, Kameron, Marguis Jr, and Emerald.

Emma was no stranger when it came to meeting people, her personality and smile was infectious and gained her a plethora of friends from all walks of life. Special acknowledgement to Patricia Harrison of Ansonville, NC, Kenneth Huntley of Ansonville, NC and Robin Lee of Durham, NC.

The Services to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Ms. Dunlap will be on Friday, July 14, 2023, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the Dunlap Family Plot of the Cedar Hill AME Zion Church Cemetery, Ansonville, North Carolina.

The Dunlap Family will greet family and friends on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 12:30-1:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.

The public viewing will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 2:30-5:30pm at Smith Funeral Home.
