Ms. Genell Ann Liles, daughter of the late Ida F. Douglas-Liles and Ed Liles Jr., was born on May 27, 1957, in McFarlan, North Carolina. She peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest on January 23, 2025, at Hospice Haven in Rockingham, North Carolina.
Genell attended the public schools of Anson County. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her Savior. She attended Galilee AME Zion Church in McFarlan, North Carolina until her health declined.
In addition to her parents, Genell was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Arianna Jo'ell Bennett; sisters Emma Jean Watson (Hue Lee) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Gloria Jean Liles of Wadesboro, North Carolina; and Glennie Lee Gulledge (James) of Mount Royal, New Jersey; and brother Bennie Liles (Barbara) of Fredericktown, New Jersey.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted children, Genell (AJ) Liles and Isaiah (Gabby) Liles; two grandchildren, Ahmir Ju'ell Bennett and Ariel Jo'ell Alley Bennett; and a granddaughter on the way, Isabella Liles.
She is also survived by six sisters, Ola Marie Liles of Wadesboro, North Carolina; Pearlie Mae Allen (Jessie) of Wadesboro, North Carolina; Sarah F. Liles of Wadesboro, North Carolina; Margretta Simpson (Scottie) of Bruford County, South Carolina, Betty Deberry of Greensboro, North Carolina and Mary Bolling of Richmond, Virginia; two brothers, Lonnie Liles and James Liles both of Woodbury, New Jersey.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 2:00pm, Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church, Morven, North Carolina. Interment will follow the service in the family plot of the Church Cemetery.
The Liles Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1:30-2:00pm at Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church and at all other times at the residence of Ms. Liles' sister, Ms. Pearlie Allen, 618 Harlem Heights Road, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The public viewing will be on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 3:30-5:30pm at Smith's Funeral Home.
