Obituary For MS. MARY ELIZABETH POLK
In accordance with the will of our Heavenly Father, Mary Elizabeth Polk, daughter of the late Mr. Alonzo Myers Polk and Aggie Lee Simon Polk was born November 27, 1945, in Anson County and departed this life August 9, 2026.
Elizabeth graduated in 1964 from West Deep Creek High School in Anson County and later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she lived for many years. Elizabeth furthered her education and proudly earned her Business Degree. After being away for more than 20 years, she returned home to be close to family and the community she loved. Elizabeth retired from Medical Specialties, where she faithfully dedicated many years of service.
Elizabeth was a beautiful, virtuous, humble, and sweet soul who loved the Lord. If you had the privilege of meeting her, you knew that you were in the presence of a special lady whose kindness and loving spirit touched the lives of those around her. She was a woman of strength, determination, and grace who embraced life and made the most of every opportunity. She lived a fulfilling and meaningful life.
Elizabeth loved her family dearly. She also enjoyed watching Western movies and the Perry Mason show. She had a special love for basketball and played at West Deep Creek High School.
She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Long Pine Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her health began to decline.
Elizabeth leaves behind precious memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and loved ones. Her life was a testament to faith, family, love, and humility.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Alonzo Myers Polk and Mrs. Aggie Lee Simon Polk; her sisters, Hattie Lee Polk Chambers, Mary Lee Huntley, and Edora Gordon; and her brothers, Gerald Alvin Polk and Thomas Henry Polk.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory seven sisters: Betty Polk Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina; Delores (Teddy) Polk Hines of Baltimore, Maryland; Bessie Polk Bethea of Baltimore, Maryland; Elnora Polk of Wadesboro, North Carolina; Hazel Polk Isaac of Asheville, North Carolina; Brenda J. Polk of Wadesboro, North Carolina; and Sandra (Lonnie) Polk-Johnson of Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is also survived by one brother, Robert (Brothus) Polk of Baltimore, Maryland; two God-sisters, Veronica Gordon (Gary) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Vernice Tate-Moore of Charlotte, North Carolina; and one God-brother, Wylie (Cynthia) Cash of Monroe, North Carolina.
She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026, 12:00 noon, at West Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the Polk Family Plot of the Long Pine Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

I offer condolences and prayers to the family of my classmate Elizabeth! I always look forward to seeing family members when I return home for the Revival in August! She was a very caring person with a beautiful smile. I remember how she would press and comb curl my hair for $.50 when I was in high school. May God give each of you strength to face each day with good memories to sustain you! I will be praying for the family!
