Ms. Mary L. Burns was born on December 25, 1947 to the late Tracy and Lue Williams Burns in Cumberland County, North Carolina.
As a teenager, she left North Carolina and moved to Jersey City, New Jersey where she lived for many years. Eventually, she returned to North Carolina to make her home.
She was employed by Pilgrim’s Pride in Marshville, North Carolina for many years. In her later years, she was a homemaker.
Mary took ill at the beginning of May 2023. After a good fight, she was called home on July 20, 2023 at 4:38pm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tracy and Lue Burns and siblings: Zoro, Harold, Vondo, Tracy Lee, Chester, Lorenzo, Closton, Peggy, Frances, Delaniel, Verdie, Daniel and Helen.
She is survived by her four children: Michael D. Burns, Hezron Williams Jr., Monica Williams and Geoffry M. Burns; seven grandchildren; siblings, Ruby Burns, Tracy Burns and Elouise Smith. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Thursday, July 27, 2023, 11:00am, Smith’s Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be at Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The family will greet family and friends on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 10:30-11:00am at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
