On Saturday morning, December 23, 2023 at the Lillie Bennett Nursing Facility/Anson Rehabilitation Center, Miss Rosa Bell Smith slept peacefully and the Lord whispered in her ear. She had no fear, because she believed and was satisfied that He was able to keep her all the way.
When Rosa Bell Smith realized she had to live in the home place by herself, for the rest of her life, after her mother died, she made a decision to go into the Anson Rehabilitation Patients Center, to be near the friends she had come to love while her mother was a patient there. Rosa Bell Smith, remained there until her death.
As we look about us, we can see death strikes all classes, his strokes fall alike on the feeble, the strong, valiant, the young and aged. We can only stand and gaze and bow our head in humble submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well.
Miss Rosa Bell Smith was born on May 10, 1937 to Deacon Nelson and Deaconess Eula Mae Lindsey Smith in Lilesville, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her father, Nelson Smith; mother, Eula Mae Lindsey Smith; two brothers, George Lindsey, Charlie Smith, and one sister, Virginia L. Thomas.
She was educated in the Anson County public school system.
She became a Christian when she was quite young and joined the Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Choir, Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, and the Missionary Ministry. She was Faithful until her health failed. Her Christian life was as the fragrance of a beautiful rose, and her influence will forever live in whatever places she has resided.
Her brother and her late cousin carried her to various churches. She loved visiting all churches in the community and surrounding areas. She was a jewel to all who knew her.
We are paying tribute to one of Godβs gentle women. She was quite mannered, pleasant toward everyone and she enjoyed and loved people. She spent many days visiting her mother and others in the Nursing facility. Her daily visiting the nursing home touched the lives of both staff and patients. She fashioned a red hat in the red club at the nursing facility for the patients.
Sister Rosa Bell Smith, was a daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, sister-in-law, friend and most of all a Christian. As we commend her spirit to God, we are thankful to have been a part of her life.
She leaves to Cherish her beautiful life: a devoted Brother, Robert J. (Gloria B.) Smith, two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Hailey and Mrs. Jerline Bennett all of Lilesville, NC, a host of nieces and nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Friday, December 29, 2023, 1:00pm, Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Lilesville, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The Smith Family will greet family and friends on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 12:30-1:00pm at Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Lilesville, North Carolina.
