Reverend Wilbur Dennis Medley, son of the late Thomas Medley and Cornelia Walker Medley was born in Anson County, NC on February 17, 1939. He quietly answered the master’s call on January 2, 2024 at Atrium Health-Cabarrus, Concord, NC.
Reverend Medley attended the public schools of Stanly County and was a graduate of West Badin High School.
He confessed Christ as his personal savior at an early age. After accepting God’s calling into the ministry, Reverend Medley served as Pastor at White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Morven, NC; Red Hill Baptist Church, Wadesboro, NC and at Friendship Baptist Church, Albemarle, NC. Revered Medley was also a part of the Prison Ministry and the Nursing Home Ministry.
Reverend Medley had a strong work ethic and worked at Almond Brother’s Chicken Farm, Stanly County Courts and retired from Collins and Aikman. Reverend Medley also owned and operated a fish market.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ollie Dean Medley who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, Reverend Medley was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Medley Liles; his son, William “Junebug” Medley; his grandson, Shonquil Medley; and his siblings: Betty Jean Dixon, Darlin Edward Medley, George Medley, Philetta Medley and Robert Medley.
Those left to cherish his memories are four daughters: Melody Willoughby of the home, Cynthia Cunningham, Wilma Medley (Dee Dee) and Latrice Campbell; his grandchildren: Kierra Medley, Derrick Willoughby Jr., Eric Willoughby, Merrick Willoughby, Christopher Fordham, Donte Fordham, Jasmine Medley, Willliam Polk, Domanik Medley, JaSheika Medley, Latoya Medley, Sean Medley, Lakenya Campbell and Jonathan Battle; a host of great grands and great great grands; brothers and sisters: John Thomas (Minnie) Medley of New London, NC, William (Patsy) Medley of New Jersey, Julia Moore of Badin, NC, Ronnie Medley of Badin, NC, Beverly (Richard) Spencer of Hampton, Virginia, Carolyn Dixon Agyapong of Tallahassee, Florida and Georgette (Mike) Edgerton of Albemarle, NC; sister-in-law, Greta Medley; a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Services to Honor the Life and Legacy of Reverend Medley will be on Sunday, January 7, 2024, 1:30pm, in the Chapel of Smith’s Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be private.
The Medley Family will greet family and friends on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 1:00-1:30pm.
