Scott-Whitter, Bettie"BJ", Clearwater Transitioned on Thursday, November 7. A native of Clearwater and retired CNA. She was a member of Count It All Joy Church. Loving memories will be cherished by her children and family: Tonya B. Amankwatia, PhD (Rev. K. Bobie) North Carolina; Yulonder Betts (Eugene) Florida; Robyn B. Scott-Coit (Walter) Texas and Allison D. Scott, Florida; by marriage Jeffrey Whitter, Florida; Ronald Whitter, Hawaii; Jennifer Mims, Florida; Pastor Ruben Stokes (LaShay), Florida; 12 grandchildren including three biological grandchildren: Scott B. Amankwatia, JD, Virginia; Daniel O. Amankwatia, Pennsylvania/New York; Myles A. Scott, Florida; a great-grandchild, and dedicated siblings a brother Wilbert Cotton (Mary) and sister, Patricia Hayes both of Florida. Also cherishing Bettie’s memory will be countless friends and extended family including her fathers’ siblings, her Aunt Launa (Cotton) Bellamy and Uncle Alvin Cotton Sr. of Ocala; beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews, childhood friends, god-children, good neighbors, and several special friends. She even has a grand-dog, Xena. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Benjamin Cotton, Sr. and Lillie Belle Cotton; husband:, Theopolis R. Whitter; son, Robert L. Scott, Jr.; brothers: Joseph, Frank, Harry and Henry Cotton, and her parents’ siblings: Helen AA Dix, Joanna Mason, Paul Morrison, Hon. Chester Morrison, Marynelle Strong, Eartha Thompson, Earl Cotton, Amelia Raines, Richard Cotton, Sr., and Lillian Davis. Funeral services Thursday, November 14, 11:00 AM at Mount Carmel Baptist Church 1012 Pennsylvania Ave., with a visitation and wake service Wednesday 6-8 PM at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church 845 Woodlawn Street both Clearwater. Interment Friday, 11:30 AM at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Services Entrusted to Smith-Young FH & CS.
