Jerome “Red” McNeal was born on July 18, 1965, in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Barbara McNeal and the late Lorenzo Keys. He grew up surrounded by family, love, and the vibrant spirit of the community that shaped him. Jerome graduated from Gibbs High School and carried the pride of his roots with him throughout his life.
Jerome was known for his warm heart, generous spirit, and the joy he brought to others. He loved deeply and took great care of his family and friends. His gift for cooking, his passion for dancing, and his infectious sense of humor made him a beloved presence wherever he went.
A dedicated worker and talented cook, Jerome served his community for over 30 years at The Fountains and Shells. His meals nourished many, but it was his laughter, kindness, and steady presence that left the strongest impression on those who knew him.
Jerome leaves a devoted and loving family to cherish his memory:
His mother, Barbara McNeal, Companion Patricia “Cleo” Fields, Sister, Priscilla Walker, Brothers, Warner Walker, Henry Cummings, and Curtis Cummings. Children, Keosha Jackson, Douquisha Redenburg, and My’Kale Johnson. Grandchildren, C.J., Chelsey, Sk’I, Sir’Rell, Caden, Oshae, Ian, and Oceanana.
Nieces, Trina McDonald, Tralonda Walker, Monique, Alexis, and Draneshia Cummings and a host of great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will continue to honor and celebrate his life.
Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Keys; his wife, Sharon McNeal; his brother, Alvin McNeal; and his niece, Tina Walker.
Jerome “Red” McNeal will be remembered for his unwavering love, his laughter, and the light he brought into every room. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
