Mack Ray Johnson, Jr, lovingly known as Bubba to family and friends, was born in Pinellas County Florida. In 1967 he graduated from Pinellas High School Shortly after high school he enlisted in the US Marine Corps until 1970. After his honorable discharge, Mack moved to Poughkeepsie, New York.
In the mid 70's he returned to Largo, Florida, and later accepted Christ as his personal Savior.
Mack worked various occupations during his life such as a nursing home orderly and survey technician where he later retired from Pinellas County Government. He later owned a landscaping company and served as a chaplain at Pinellas County jail. He often opened Pinellas County Board of Commissioners public meetings in prayer.
Mack had a heart for people and was determined to make sure everyone he encountered had the opportunity to accept Christ as their Savior.
He loved sharing the word of God and established a community church where he would provide transportation to and from service for
attendees. Because of his love for people, he purchased a boarding home where everyone was accepted.
All he asked for the convenient affordable housing was that all residents attend bible classes which he held regularly on the premises. Mack loved the Lord and had a heart for all of God’s people.
On December 25, he peacefully received his eternal crown and answered the call to his heavenly home. “Well done, thy good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest.”
Mack is preceded in death by his son, Jamie Johnson; his mother, Freddie Mae Johnson Wright; his father, Mack Ray Johnson, Sr.; and his sisters, Joanne Maxine Johnson, Gloria Jean Johnson, and Alice Mae King.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
