Oliver Monroe Matthews, affectionally known as "Bobby," was born on October 27, 1951 in Clearwater, FL to the late Frank Lee Matthews Sr. and Sarah W. Matthews.
Bobby spent his childhood years in Pinellas County,attending both Dunedin and Clearwater High Schools (Graduated in 1971), where he excelled in several sports. His love of sports expanded beyond high school as he eventually went on to coach local youth teams.
Bobby had a 20 year career with the City of Clearwater in the Solid Waste Department, and thoroughly enjoyed occasional carpentry side jobs where he displayed his elaborate skills of cabinetmaking.
He served proudly as a member of Mount Olive AME Church for several years and in recent years, was a part of the congregation at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Clearwater.
Bobby’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving daughters, Kesha Mooney and Amanda Tape (Rodney); Brothers, William (Billy) Matthews, Raymond Matthews, Richard Matthews, Oral Matthews; Sisters, Mary Matthews, Joanne Rainey (Martin), Sarah Rojas, Ann Bryant; Grandchildren, Maelin Mooney, Alyssa Mooney, PJ Mooney, Hines Mooney, Rodney Tape II, Rihana Tape, Rylin Tape; Goddaughter, Jessica Saylor; Special Friend, Harriett Garrison, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Matthews Jr., and his daughter, Constance Matthews.
