Obituary For Ruther M Lewis

On January 5, 1935, Ruther Mae Lewis was born to George and Willie Mae Brown, in Dunedin, Florida. On Thursday, December14, 2023, at 4:50 AM, our beloved mother, Ruther Mae Lewis departed this earthly place to be with the Lord.

Ruther attended schools in Pinellas County, Chase Memorial Elementary and Pinellas High School.

She met and married William Lewis, Sr., in 1957. From this union they were blessed with eight children: Jasper Dell III ( Spouse Michelle), Clearwater, Florida, Dennis F. Brown (Spouse Sandra), Clearwater, Florida Willie Jean Brown, Clearwater Florida; Larry B. Brown (deceased), Gregory R. Lewis (Spouse Cheryl), Safety Harbor, Florida, Rickey W. Lewis (Spouse Rita), Palm Harbor, Florida, Caroline R. Lewis, Clearwater, Florida, Clearwater, Florida, and William M. Lewis Jr. Clearwater, Florida

She was employed by Tabor Cleaners as a presser and for many years she worked as a childcare provider.

Ruther became a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, currently, (Shiloh Bible Church) in Dunedin, Florida. She served in many capacities as President of the Usher Board Number One, member of Choir One, Nurses Guild, Senior Missionary Auxiliary, Vacation Bible School teacher. She was indeed a devoted and faithful member.

Community involvement activities included membership of the Lilly White Organization. Ruther enjoyed cooking, her family time, decorating, making things beautiful, sewing, and helping others.

On Thursday, December 14th 2023, surrounded by family, she departed this life at 4:50 AM.

Ruther Mae Lewis was preceded in death by both parents, George and Willie Mae Brown, brothers George Brown Jr., and James F. Brown, Sr; and sisters Hazel Gillieylen and Thelma Blackwelll. She leaves to cherish precious memories; stepmother Claretha Brown, Clearwater, Florida, three sisters: Gwendolyn M. Mike (Spouse Roger), Orlando, Florida, Joyce Swann, Clearwater, Florida, Eartha Fisher, St. Petersburg, Florida. Three Brothers, Ernest J. Brown, San Antonio, Texas, Nathaniel Brown, Clearwater, Florida, and Demetre Brown (Spouse Patricia), Palm Harbor, Floridia. Grandchildren: Josephine M. Dell, Karolyn N. Dell, Leon Hillman, Jasmine Dell, Jayden Dell, Dennis E. Brown, Michelle Catia, Christopher Brown, Michael Satcher, Anthony T. Jones Sr., Khalil A. Abdur-Rahim, Anna Bella Lewis, Zinna M. Lewis, Rickey R.W. Lewis, Jr., Takara N. Lewis, Zinna M. Lewis, Senecha J. Lewis, Stephen M. Lewis, and Jasmine Chester. Great-grandchildren: Makayla Dell, Damien Brown, Tyrek Brown, Patrice Lee, Deonte and Demetrius Stewart, Anthony T. Jones Jr., Diamond Jones, Jenae S. Jones, Nataysha and Natyasha and Amir Jones. A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM with family receiving friends Friday, December 22, 2023 5-7 PM both services at the Shiloh Bible Church 1165 N. Douglas Ave., Dunedin.
