Obituary For Shamika Williams

Sha Mika Nkrumah Williams was born on July 31, 1976, in Clearwater, Florida. She was the third daughter of the late Alvin C Williams and Lovetta D (Bryant) Williams. She was educated in various Pinellas County schools (St. Paul’s Episcopal in Clearwater & Dunedin Middle School) culminating in her graduation from Dunedin High School in 1994.

At a young age, Sha Mika participated in dance and soccer. However, her love for volleyball stood out and she played volleyball at the club, high school and collegiate level. Along with playing volleyball at Queen’s College in Charlotte, NC, Sha Mika earned her bachelor’s degree in 2000 for Business with a focus in Marketing.

While living in Pinellas County, Sha Mika was a member of Church of the Reconciler in Clearwater. Rivers of Life Ministries was her church home during her time in Hillsborough County where she was active in the Young Adults Ministry.

Sha Mika was passionate about serving her community. She mentored young children through coaching volleyball. She taught them to love and honor the game just as her coaches did for her when she was just starting out. In high school, Sha Mika was member of the Black Culture Club which sparked her interest in supporting important social and political causes including volunteering with voter registration initiatives.

Sha Mika put her business degree to work as the founder of both Red Carpet Events and the non-profit Pass Organization. Red Carpet Events provided exclusive, high-end experience social gatherings, while the Pass Organization helps underserved youth and young adults grow and become productive members of society. Her organization’s hands up, not handouts approach and her tireless work led her to be loved by children and families throughout her community and helped make her a true Marketing, Communications and Community professional.

On Sunday February 8, 2026, Sha Mika earned her wings and peacefully departed this life to rest in her eternal home in Glory. She was preceded in death by her father Alvin C. Williams.

Sha Mika leaves to cherish her memory…

I will never forget the day we first met. September 11, 2001. It was my first day at Tingue. You were one of the first faces I saw. Your eyes so kind and full of life and the beautiful warm smile. We clicked instantly. Over the past years, you become more than just my friend. You were my sister, my counselor, my voice of reason, as well as my life coach. You helped me make so many big decisions in my life. Losing you so soon has been hard on me. I really thought we had more time. More time to visit, more time to travel, more time to talk and laugh. I pray you knew how much our friendship meant to me. I love you and will miss you so much! Your light will forever shine bright in my life. Rest peacefully until we meet again. Angelina

We met ShaMika just as she was starting high school. She was kind, loving, respectful and trustworthy even at that young age. We would often shared stories of great art and wonderful books. She fell in love with the author Terry McMillan and we would often vibe over these books... as well as shared interest in our rich cultural history as black people. Shamika also had a mature way about her that was very unusual for a 10th grader. She was super responsible and trustworthy. And so, when we needed a babysitter for our 2 young children, ShaMika readily volunteered. We treasure those memories. Just this past January, ShaMika and I were in touch as we honor the legacy of MLK. Never a thought that in just a few weeks, this lovely soul would be no more. Life is a gift. And the gift named ShaMika Williams will not be forgotten. Sincere condolences to the entire family... and especially Mother Loretta. May God rest the beautiful soul that is ShaMika Williams.

Shamika started as an intern with me as a young college student. Little did I know that the friendship would blossom. Her joy and kindness will forever be felt. I'm honored to have been a part of such a beautiful life. My many condolences to all family and friends, most of all, Shamika's dear mom.

Sweet, sweet ShaMika. Such a light in my world. From babysitting me as a child, to reconnecting as an adult, and meeting my mini. You will always be missed and I will never forget. All of our love always and in all ways.

The biggest honor of my life was to be allowed to be apart of her life.

I met ShaMika at work and we stayed long time friends for many years since she left. She was the cool friend. I felt cool by association just being in her presence. She made me think about things I totally took for granted. She also introduced me to the spoken word poetry scene here in Chicago. Smart, confident and hilarious. I will truly miss her.
