Obituary For Dorothy Mixon

Public visitation will be held on Monday, July 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Service will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 3:00 p.m. at Oakey Grove Baptist Church located at Hwy. 125 Berrien County.

Dorothy “Delaine” Mixon, age 60, transitioned from the weight of this world to her
Heavenly home on July 24, 2026, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in
Tifton, GA, surrounded by her family. Though her earthly journey ended, the love she
poured into her family and the quiet strength she carried through life will remain forever.
Dorothy “Delaine” Mixon was born to the late Dewey Mixon Sr. and Diane Mixon
Pearson on October 29, 1965, in Orlando, Florida. From the beginning, she carried a
gentle spirit and a heart that naturally leaned toward caring for others. She had a way of
making people feel safe—through her warm smile, her steady presence, and the quiet
resilience she showed in every season of her life.
Delaine devoted herself to her family with unwavering loyalty. Her greatest joy came
from being a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She created a home filled with
meaningful moments: shared meals, long talks, laughter that lifted heavy days, and the
kind of love that made everyone around her feel seen and valued.
She faced loss with courage, having been preceded in death by her brother, Dewey
“Dion” Mixon. Even through grief, she continued to love fiercely, showing her family
what true strength looks like.
She leaves behind a legacy carried proudly by her daughter, Mahala (Wesley) Lamb,
and her son, Richard Day. She is also survived by her bonus dad, Ray Pearson; her five
grandchildren—Dustin, Brysen, Lilianna, Audrea, and Samantha; her two
greatgrandchildren, Drew and Avery; her sisters Paula (Mike) Powell and Debra
(Randy) Mobley; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and several
dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the
Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia and Hospice of Tiftarea. Their compassion,
patience, and dedication provided comfort not only to Delaine, but also to the loved
ones who stood beside her. Their kindness during her final days will always be
remembered with deep appreciation.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests monetary donations to assist with

time are deeply appreciated.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you…”
These words from John 14:27 (KJV) remind the family of the comfort and calm that
Delaine now rests in a peace not of this world, but of her Heavenly home.

Delaine’s family will remember her for her kindness, her humor, her strength, and the
way she showed up for the people she loved. Her legacy lives on in every life she
touched and in every heart that carries her memory forward.
