Mr. Walter Amos Taylor, Jr. 68 of Jacksonville, Fla, formally of Waycross, Ga. transitioned this Friday, July 17th in Jacksonville, Fla.
Visitation will be Friday, July 31st from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Southview Mortuary.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Southview Mortuary Chapel in Waycross, Ga.

Walter "Pete" Amos Taylor, Jr. was an awesome athlete who achieved wonderful things at the high school and college levels. I once wrote an article on Pete for the "Waycross Journal-Herald." As I conducted research for the article, I interviewed the legendary Jake Gaither about Pete. Jake Gaither told me that Pete was one of the finest athletes he ever saw at Florida A&M University. Hopefully, Pete will go into the Florida A&M University Hall of Fame if he is not already there. God bless the Taylor family and may the soul of Pete rest in peace!
