Damaris "Mari" Rivera, 59, of Chesapeake, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2024. Born on June 26, 1965, in East Chicago, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of Edelmiro and Antonia Rivera. Damaris is survived by her two sons, Hernan Colon II (Cassie Prince-Colon) and Eric A. Colon; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Luna, and Lucian; her father, Edelmiro Rivera; her brothers, Edelmiro Rivera Jr. and Roberto Maldonado-Rivera; and her sister, Rebecca Rivera. She was preceded in death by her mother, Antonia Rivera, and her sister, Deborah Rivera. Known for her infectious laugh and playful sense of humor, Damaris brought joy to those around her. Her deep faith and love for God were evident in her passion for singing and worshiping. Above all else, she adored her grandchildren, who were the light of her life and a source of immense pride. Damaris passed away at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital due to complications from ongoing health conditions. Her unwavering spirit and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A memorial service to honor Damaris's life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. May Damaris's memory bring comfort to those who loved her as they celebrate a life filled with faith, laughter, and devotion.
