Areatha Williams Pierce was born September 28, 1934 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Verlee and Elsie Williams. Areatha received her education in the Lowndes County School System.
Areatha was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. She served as a faithful member at the Second Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church while dedicating her time to serve on the Senior Usher Board and the Pastor & Wife Kitchen Committee.
In addition to her parents, the late Verlee and Elsie Williams, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Rosa Mae Mitchell; and three brothers: L.C. Williams, Maso Williams and James Williams.
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal; Areatha Pierce departed this walk of life on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 into eternal rest.
Areatha leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Mr. Samuel Rayam; four children: Reginald (Sandra) Pierce, Laverne McDuffie, Jewell Miller and Thomas (Betty) Miller; two sisters: Pearl Rentz and Ola Mae Boyd; four brothers: Roosevelt Williams, James (Liz) Marshall, Mosel (Betty) Williams and Willie Frank (Katie) Williams; twenty-one grandchildren: Reginald B. Pierce, Chad (Sonni) Koetter, Brittney (Josh) West, Cody Koetter, Ebony (Cedric) Breeden, Jasmine Miller, Javon Miller, Todarrio (Alica) Hugley, Cornellius (Demika) Hugley, Emmanuel Bryant, Stacy Hargett, Anthony (Courtney) Hargett, Craig (Torreya) Davis, Devin Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Paisley Mitchell, Kenyatta McDuffie, Africa (Kelvin) Taylor, Kizzy Miller, Brandy (Bobby) Montgomery and Anthony Scott; 40 great grandchildren; eleven step-children: Louise (Jerome) Nathan, Benjamin Pierce, Willie Rean Pierce, Wade Pierce, Wallace Williams, Gloria Lewis, Sam Rayam, Jr., Will Rayam, Victoria Coles, Roberta Perry and Tywannia Rayam; four brother-in-laws: Minister Edward (Louise) Rayam, Matthew (Ruthmae) Rayam, Booker T. Rayam and Augusta (Sarah) Rayam; sister-in-law: Doris Richardson; five special friends: Beulah Chandler, Alice Miller, Pat Studstill, Lori Campbell and Janice Arnold; one dear cousin: Ora Lee Patterson; Also a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3835 Whitewater Rd., Valdosta, GA. Dr. Charles E. Vinson, Sr., pastor.
