Cottrell Hunter, Jr. was born on July 17, 1947 in Valdosta, GA to the late Estelle Williams and Cottrell Hunter, Sr.
Cottrell was educated in the Valdosta City Schools System and was a graduate of Pinevale High School. After graduation, Cottrell later joined the United States Marine Corps where he completed two deployments to Vietnam. Cottrell departed this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at his residence surrounded around those who loved him.
Cottrell leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Angelia Allen Hunter of Valdosta, GA; two children, Cottrell Hunter, III and Steve Vincent Major; two stepchildren, Alexandria Watkins of Perry, GA and Jeffery W. Peebles, Jr. of Valdosta, GA; two grandchildren, Ahny Hunter and Corey Hunter; three brothers, Cleveland Adkins and Richard Uddyback (Sylvia) both of Valdosta, GA and Arthur Uddyback of Tennessee; four sisters, Sue McDougal (Dwight) and Helon Roberson (Sam) both of Valdosta, GA, June Adkins of New Jersey and Lawanna Sims of Kissimmee, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Public viewing will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
A private service will be held for family only.
Due to COVID-19, Stevens Funeral Home will be enforcing social distancing and following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. We ask that anyone entering the building and attending any funeral events to please wear a mask.
