He who dwells in the shelter of the most High, will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2
I, Hattie M. Johnson Lockhart was born December 11, 1943 to Carl Johnson and Eva Ola Whitlock Johnson in Lowndes County Georgia. I graduated from Westside High School. Later years, I married Willie Lockhart and to that union four loving children were born. In my early adult years, I was a member of Silver Run Baptist Church, later attended House of Bread Ministry and New Destiny Temple of Deliverance.
At an early age, I began to work for Valdosta State University Campus Dining and continued to work until I retired in 2005. Along with being a dedicated worker, I loved spending time with my children and their families, having Sister to Sister getaways with my loving Sisters and attending My Family Reunions (The Whitlock Family Reunions). In my early age, I loved to cook family meals and I LOVED Chocolate Cake!
On February 2, 2021, I, Hattie M. Johnson Lockhart went home to be with my Lord, my Savior and my Protector.
I am preceded in death by my parents, Carl Sr. and Eva Ola; five siblings, Shirley, Carl Jr (Randy), John (Pap), Emanuel and Oscar.
I leave to mourn but to cherish my memories, my caring children, Mary Nell Laird (Dexter), Sharon Stratton (Art), Jerome Lockhart all of Valdosta, GA and James Lockhart (Sabrina) of Adel, GA; I am survived by three sisters, Barbara Johnson Worsley (Lenon), Mary Johnson Mark and Patricia Johnson Adams (Wayne) all of Valdosta Georgia; ten grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
One of Hattie’s comical sayings is that I can “Hit, Four Times Harder Than a Mule Can Kick.” But Most of all she was an AWESOME Mother and Sister!
Graveside service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the Pallbearers Cemetery. Rev. Allen M. Lane, Jr., officiating.
Public viewing will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
