Mrs. Frances Burgess was born January 16, 1932 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late Perry and Dora Graham. She was educated in the Brooks County School System. Mother Frances was married to the late Frank Burgess, Sr.
On Sunday, April 21, 2024, God looked around his garden for a flower in full bloom with all its work done and he saw Mother Frances at home in all her beauty and grace, and he plucked her from his garden to take her safely home. Mother Frances, as a member of The First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church she sang in the choir, served on the Missionary Board, and was a member of the 150th Church Anniversary Banquet Committee.
Mother Frances worked for over 50 years in the health care field as a CNA and received many accolades for her service.
Mother Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Dora Graham; husband, Frank Burgess, Sr.; three sons, George Graham, Robert Graham and James Huewitt; two daughters, Martha English and Annette Huewitt; seven sisters, six brothers and two daughters–in– law, Janice Huewitt and Georgia Graham.
She leaves to cherish her memories four devoted daughters, Mary Klein (Al) of Copperas Cove, Texas, Arline Huewitt, Mary Ann Williams and Geraldine Collins all of Valdosta, GA.; one sister, Ruth Nesmith of Florida; ten grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren; special devoted god children, Belinda Rayam, Linda Bricker-Akins and Richard Bricker; devoted nephews, Calvin McClain, Jeremiah McClain and Randy McClain; special friend, Pam Corbitt; special caregiver, Danielle Simmons and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
The celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 517 North Oak Street, Valdosta, GA 31601. Rev. Albert L. Barfield, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pallbearers Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
