Gladys Hill Pitts was born in Cecil, Georgia to the late McKinley Hill, Sr. and Viola William Hill. She departed this life on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
Gladys was educated in the Cook County School System but she taught herself to cook and sew.
She married Otis C. Pitts and to this union four children were born, Anita, Theotis, Marshall, Sr. and Wayne.
Gladys accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. On Sundays, she would go with Rev. Pitts as he pastored at different churches. She eventually joined Morning Star Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, sung in the Senior Choir, member of the Mission Circle Number Two and a faithful member in Sunday School. She was a member of the Easter Star and worked faithfully when she was younger.
Gladys hobbies included cooking, sewing, fishing and traveling. She would cook big dinners and invited friends. During the thanksgiving holiday, dinner could not be served until Pastor Morgan came. She would make most of her clothing and all the drapers for her home. She fished from the creeks in Georgia to the lakes in Alabama and Louisiana and to the coast of Florida and North Carolina. She traveled from Georgia up the coast to Washington, D.C. to New York to Niagara Falls in Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Viola Hill; husband, Rev. O.C. Pitts; son, Theotis Pitts; grandsons, Cassius Gosier and Antwain Pitts; her six siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Anita Gosier of Valdosta, GA; two sons, Marshall B. Pitts, Sr. (Carol) of Fayetteville, NC and Wayne Pitts (Earline) of Manchester, GA; a devoted and faithful daughter-in-law, Mary Pitts; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

To The Pitts Family,
Our hearts are saddened at the loss of our precious Aunt Gladys, but we know her memory and legacy will live on through her children and beloved family members. Thank God for this great woman of God, for now she rests in the loving arms of Jesus. She is absent from the body, and is now present with the Lord. We loved her, but God loved her best. Rest Aunt Gladys, we will see you in the morning.....where we celebrate around the throne together.
Your nieces Marcia, Danyelle and Caroline
