Obituary For Silas Horace "Bud" Griffin

My prayers have all been answered, I've finally arrived, the healing that has been delayed, has now been realized. No one's in a hurry, no more schedules to keep, I'm enjoying Jesus, just sitting at his feet. If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold. If you could see me now, I'm standing tall and whole.

If you could see me now, you would know I've see him face to face; if you could only see me now. Though I've had my sorrows, they never can compare what Jesus has in store for me, no language can ever share. You would not want me to leave this perfect place, If you could only see me now.

Mr. Silas Horace “Bud” Griffin, 97, of Ousley, Georgia was born on June 12, 1922 to the late Silas Griffin and the late Corine Griffin. He attended Lowndes County School System and entered the Army in 1942. He was a firefighter and a veteran of World War II. After leaving the army, he returned to Valdosta, Ga and became a farmer.

On September 29, 1948 he married the late Verleain Wright Griffin and from this union six children were born. His hobbies included fishing and attending baseball games in the community.

Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by three sons, Marvin D. Griffin, Eddie B. Dennard and John Hogan, Sr; and three sisters, Corine G. Matchett, Lillie Mae G. Fillmore and Odessa G. Denton.

On Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the Holly Hill Nursing Home, Mr. Silas Horace "Bud" Griffin, 97, of Valdosta, heard the Lord declared, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant....enter thou into they joy of thy Lord."

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Severado (Dedra) Griffin of Miami, FL., Gamon (Diane) Griffin of Jacksonville, FL., and Gerald P. Griffin of Valdosta, GA.; three daughters, Magdalene G. Corbett of Augusta, GA., Wynette (Kevin) Dobard of Valdosta, GA. and Alma (Leon) Blair of Miami, FL. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Second Oak Grove Baptist Church, 5922 Clyattville-Nankin Rd., Valdosta, GA 31601. Rev. Leroy Henderson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Forrest Grove Cemetery.
