Obituary For Walter Barnes

Walter Barnes was born on July 10, 1951 in Quitman, GA to the late Joe Barnes, Sr. and Cora Barnes.

Walter attended Brooks County High School and was the proud owner of Barnes Roofing Company for over 30 years.

On Friday, February 13, 2026, Walter was called to eternal rest at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Barnes Sr. and Cora Barnes; his sister, Annie Henderson; his partner, Cynthia Harris; and his daughter, Cynthia Barnes.

Walter leaves to cherish his memories to his children, Walter T. Barnes (Quesha), Johnny Gray, both of Valdosta, GA, Cledith Barnes of Fresno, CA, April Gardner (Arthur), Dondra Samueland Lenny Smith all of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Travionna, Synoria, Makiem, Londyn, Makayla, Caleb and Michelle; one brother, Henry Barnes of Valdosta, GA; one sister, Bessie Barnes-Shidler of Valdosta, GA; one aunt, Ruthie Nelson; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Public Viewing will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
