Mr. Curtis Willis
Brother, Curtis Lee Willis was born December 21, 1949, to the late Clarence Willis, Sr. and Luella Willis in Valdosta, Georgia. He attended the Valdosta Public School System. Curtis joined the US Army in 1968, where he was a soldier in Vietnam. He also was a trained military police and a medic, later to train many troops. Upon 21 years of service to Uncle Sam, he retired from Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio Texas. A little less than a year, he and his family relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, where he joined the Birmingham Police Department, training many rookies on the graveyard shift, to retire 26 years later.
He has always been an active member of the Church, no matter where he lived or how far he had to drive to get there. Serving as a dedicated deacon in many. Curtis was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and uncle, and had a very generous heart, donating to foundations, shelters, and charities on a regular basis. In the early evening of January 24, 2024, a loving angel carried him to his heavenly resting place.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Luella Willis, seven siblings, Mozella Glaster, Blanche Crawford, Ella Willis, Margaret Jackson, Roy Willis, Joe Willis, and Shelly Willis.
Curtis Lee Willis leaves to cherish his loving memories, a loving and devoted wife, Janice M. Willis, three daughters, Sharon Willis, Augusta, GA, Stephanie(Rick) Billman, Brooklyn, NY, Kenisha Willis, and one son, Justin(Destiny) Willis, Birmingham, AL; five brothers, Clarence (Mable) Willis, Johnny (Doris)Willis, Valdosta, GA, James (Betty)Willis, Tifton, GA, David(Lorraine)Willis, and Tommy Willis, Savannah, GA, Tommie L. Dennis (sister in law), Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at the Southview Cemetery in Valdosta.
