Obituary For Calvin Javan Williams, Sr.

Calvin Javan Williams, Sr. was born August 25, 1981, in St Petersburg, Florida to his parents, James Calvin Williams, Jr. and Phyllis Denese Taylor-Williams. His parents moved him to his dad's hometown of Quitman, Georgia when he was just 4 years old.

A Time To Be Educated
Calvin attended Brooks County Schools and graduated from Brooks County High School in 1999. He played Defensive Tackle for the Brooks County Trojans football team.

He attended Valdosta State University and later entered Valdosta Technical College where he studied Industrial Maintenance but changed his studies to trucking. He graduated and was a truck driver for over 20 years.

The Musician

Calvin started learing to play the drums around the age of 3 years old. He was one of the best drummers to pick up sticks for the purpose of making music. He had begun teaching his son, Calvin, Jr., how to play. Calvin could also sing well but would not sing before people. He played drums for his dad and uncles' church, "Church Of Perfecting Saints" in Quitman, Georgia until he moved to allahassee, Florida.

Marriage
Calvin married Kaylon Graham and to this union was born his son, Calvin Javan Williams, Jr. whom he referred to as "Deuce". He also developed a close bond with his son's brothers, Anthony (Ant) and Elijah (E.J.)

Faith
Calvin grew up in a household of faith. His parents brought him up in fear and admonition of the Lord. His Christian Journey began in St Petersburg, Florida. He was a member of Crusaders For Christ Church in Quitman, Georgia and finally Church Of Perfecting Saints in Quitman, Georgia under his parents' leadership.

Calvin leaves to cherish his memories, his son: Calvin Javan Williams, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL; parents: Senior Pastor James Calvin Williams, Jr. and Co-Pastor Phyllis Denese Willams of Quitman, GA; two sısters: Venezia Phıllips (laurus), Latronza Santord (Kendrıck) or Lake Park, GA; one brother: Jamon Williams (Heather) of Quitman, GA; two grandparents: Calvın and Almare layior of St. Petersburg, FL; three nieces: Zenevia Hargett of Orlando, FL, Nia Sanford of Lake Park, GA, Kylee Wilhams of Quitman, GA; two nephews: Trevin Spencer of Lake Park, GA, Jamon Williams, Jr. of Fort Valley, GA; his close brother-like cousin, Jim McGhee, Jr. of Quitman, GA; many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, a host of cousins, and sorrowing friends.

Calvin's wit, love for family and huge personality will be missed greatly!

Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2026 at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 3-7PM.

Home Going services will be Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 2PM at First Baptist Church in Quitman GA. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery. Visit this website to view a livestream of the celebration.
