Darrell Washington’s story began in Quitman, GA on May 23, 1970. Darrell was the youngest child born to Thelma Washington and Tommie Washington (deceased). He is survived by a host of siblings: Benton (Eulonda) Washington (Newnan, GA), Gregory Washington (Valdosta, GA), Sheila Washington, Tiara Washington, Tommie Washington Jr., Andropolis Fulton, Kenneth Map, Sheila Williams (Mike McClain), Anthony Davis, Tony Brooks, Tony Washington, Tony Keeley, Dantonio Brown, and Amy Wrice (Robbie).
Although Darrell’s story began in Quitman, GA. In the early 1990’s , Darrell relocated to Newnan, Georgia and focused on working hard and building a bright future. He discovered that he had a niche for construction and grading when he secured a position with McCoy Grading in May 2016. Darrell worked for McCoy Grading nearly 10 years and was known for being the first to report to the work site each day. He had a strong work ethic and took his job seriously. This was displayed in his stellar work performance.
Darrell had a fondness for restoring cars and a sense of humor that was infectious. Darrell had an uncanny way of making others laugh. He was jovial and upbeat at all times. He loved his children and grandchildren to the moon and back. On any given day, he was always bragging about the great things that his kids were doing.
Darrell transitioned on the morning of January 22, 2026.
He is survived by children: Tiara Pittman, Darrell Lamar Davis Sr. (Duke), Kentavious Raishun Reynolds (Poochy), Tyshe Masi Bennett (Ladybug), and, Tydarrion Bennett (God son). Grandchildren: Jase Davis and Darrell Davis Jr. Two children are deceased: Shaquita Renee Washington & Kierra N. Howard Darrell is also survived by a special friend and loved one, Rebecca Ransby and host of nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman, Georgia with Rev. Delvin Boatman officiating. Burial followed at the Southview Cemetery in Valdosta, Georgia. By family request, livestreaming was not available.
