The Obituary
On Monday, March 25, 2022, Sister Elvira Sims departed this life. She left us with love and a lot of memories. Mrs. Elvira Riley Sims was born to Latrell Virginia Arnold on July 18, 1944. She attended Staten High School in Jacksonville, FL. She was married to Mr. Norman Frank Sims, Sr. of Quitman, GA. Her hobbies included working in her garden planting beautiful flowers. She was employed at The Brooks County Training Center. She also worked in several homes cleaning and taking care of their plants as well. Her favorite song was "Jesus Caresβ.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 59 years, Mr. Norman Frank Sims; and their four children, Chadwick Riley of Jacksonville, FL, Norman Frank, Jr. (Juliana) of Fayetteville, NC, Tonya Elvira Howard (Kenneth Sr.) of Valdosta, GA; Janis Lynette Sims of Quitman, GA and Michelle Ravondolyn Sims who preceded her in death; one sibling, Mr. James Arnold (Kyoung) of Augusta, GA; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ms. Alice Coleman of Quitman, GA, Mrs. Sonja Sims (Sgt. Leroy Sims-deceased), Mrs. Maxine Jackson of Ocala, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; just like a son, Jamal Raiford; her close friends, Ms. Joann Raiford, Ms. Betty Powell, Ms. Constance Mitchell, Ms. Lacey Spencer, and her Birthday friend, Mrs. Mary Stevens.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 3PM on the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Lawn. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery.
