The Life
Mr. Floyd James Smallwood Sr. was born May 4, 1938 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late James Smallwood and Emma Reddick Smallwood.
Mr. Floyd was educated at Morven Rosenwald School. He joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, where he served as a Cub Scouts leader.
Mr Floyd was married to the late Frankie Mae Smallwood for 54 years. He was employed at the Brooks County School System as a custodian and a bus driver. He also worked for the City Of Morven. Mr. Floyd loved sitting on the porch, having conversations with those who come by to visit, and family, especially his “GRANDCHILDREN” .
Mr. Floyd leaves to cherish his memories; his eight children, Floyd Smallwood, Jr. (Ann), Thomasville, GA, Gino Smallwood, Harriett Mobley (Bobby Mobley), Lynette James, Morven, GA, Eric Smallwood (Sharon), Valdosta, GA, Tonya Jackson (Andrew), Gregory Smallwood (April), Michael Smallwood (Amanda), and an adoptive daughter, Precious Smallwood; his precious 16 grandchildren, four whom he helped raise, Amy, Kimberly, Eric and Ericka; 6 great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Barbara) Smallwood and Jonathan Smallwood; one sister, Carrie Jenkins; four sister-in-laws, Martha Smith, Vallie Thornton, Shirley Brinson (John), Diane Smith and Ira Lee; One brother-in-law, J.C. Smith(Yvonne); he also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Smallwood; two grandchildren, Jamal and Anisa Mobley; six sisters and four brothers.
Home going services will be Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11AM at the Morven City Auditorium. Burial will follow in Pine View Cemetery. Visitation is Friday at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 4PM-8PM. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
