~ The Life & Obituary ~ Frank Johnson, Jr., 79 passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022. He was born December 24, 1942 to the late Frank Sr. and Ora Bell Johnson in Brooks County, GA. Frank was a graduate of Brooks County schools with the Class of 1961. While there, he honed his musical skills by playing several musical instruments in the school’s band. Shortly after graduating, Frank attended Tuskegee University in Alabama. An avid learner, Frank received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Valdosta State College in 1990. Frank was an encourager and held a genuine sense of pride in the accomplishments of his family and friends - especially his children. His favorite role was that of “Grandpa”. Frank often doted on his 8 grandchildren and showered each of them with gifts and words of encouragement every chance he got. With his magnetic personality, Frank was a friend to many because he never met a stranger. When the opportunity presented itself, Frank enjoyed fishing in the nearby creeks and ponds throughout Lowndes and Brooks County. Frank served as a member of New Hope Baptist Church for most of his adult life. He served his community as a Lifetime Member of the Prince Hall Shriners and the Prince Hall Masons and as a member of several other masonic organizations. As Past Potentate of Ossipe Temple #65, Frank helped ensure their mission was executed with dignity and compassion. Frank was also a Lifetime member of the AMVETS. Frank Johnson, Jr. loved life. He lived his life on his own terms. He possessed a multifaceted personality. He was an intelligent man who could converse with you on nearly any subject.
