Mr. Frank Turner, 90
Frank Lester Turner was the fourth child of ten born to the late Will and Marie Turner of Quitman, GA. He was known for his athleticism at Brooks High School. He received a basketball scholarship to Fort Valley State College and excelled at pole vaulting. An excellent swimmer, he taught many young men in his age group how to swim and dive.
Frank worked at the New York State Racing Association as a Pari Mutuel Clerk. After retiring, he returned home to Quitman.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Raquel Turner, siblings Will, Jr., Lou Margaret, James, Daisy and Vernal.
Cherishing his memory are his siblings, John (Louise) Turner, Elizabeth Drafts and Gladys T. Lee, his nieces Willa Parrish, Eugenia Harvey, Lauren (Joseph) Guacci, Dr. Jeannine (Carlos) Turner Falgueras, Alison Turner Harris, Crystal Drafts; nephews Gregory (Daphne) Turner, John (Heidi) McLaughlin, George (Lisa) Ortiz, William (Theresa) DuVall, Christopher (Syeda) Turner and a host of loving friends, and neighbors.
Private services were held at North End Cemetery on Saturday, June 13, 2020 with Pastor Sibley Matchett, Jr. officiating. Video streaming and condolences may be made by visiting stevensmcgheefuneralhome.com Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
