A Time to Be Born:
Freddie “Fred” was born in Cairo, Georgia, on June 29, 1938, to Mary M. Fountain Townsend and Johnny Lee Fountain. They both preceded him in death.
A Time to Be Educated:
Fred was educated in the public schools of Cairo, Georgia.
A Time to Love:
On June 8, 1963, Fred was joined in holy matrimony to Margie Lee Denson.
Christian Experience:
Fred joined the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman, Georgia. Later, he moved to Valdosta, Georgia, and became a member of the St. Phillips IAME Church in Valdosta, Georgia, where he served on the Steward Board. Reverend Dr. E. C. Edwards was the pastor.
A Time to Mourn:
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Westly Fountain, Pete Fountain, Lamar Fountain, Rudolph Fountain, and John Robert Fountain; sisters, Louise Fountain Richards, Frankie Mae Fountain, and Pauline Fountain Roberts; sisters-in-law, Julia Wright, Lily Mae Denson, Edith Brinson, Ella Style, and Hattie Mae Hampton; two brothers-in- law, Dennis Denson and Harold Denson; and grandchildren, Cassandra Fulton Brown and Samquenetta Fountain.
A Time to Be Mourned:
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Margie Lee Fountain; nine children, Willie James Brown (Dorothy), Hazel Little (Calvin), Robert Denso (Carolyn), Fred Fountain, Jr. (Yvette), Mary Loretta Mosely (Richard), James Henry Fountain (Gloria), Sammy Lee Fountain, Tammy Lee Belcher (Henry), and Jerry Lee Fountain (Jeanette); he also leaves to cherish his memories: three sisters and one brother, Mary Alice Ware, Loretta Barnett, Betty Jean Talbert, and Colon Townsend (Wendy) of Winter Haven, Florida; one brother-in-law, David Hampton; in addition, he leaves to cherish his memories: 43 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren, and six great- great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
Special Thanks to Dorothy Brown, his daughter-in-love, for taking care of his needs, going to doctor’s appointments, reading and understanding all the paperwork, organizing daily meds, and being his own personal home health care nurse.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11AM at Grace Point Church, 2206 East Hill Avenue, Valdosta, GA 31601, with Min. Yvette Fountain, eulogist. Burial will follow in Pallbearer Cemetery.
