George Lewis Thomas was born on February 15, 1951 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Rich & Ida Thomas. He departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
George was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Bob Thomas, Jr., Robert Thomas, Sr., Sylvester Thomas, Sr., and Billy James Thomas; one sister, Lillie V. Hollis and two step sisters, Ann Cockfield and Jessie Mae Jordan. As a native of Brooks County, he attended the Brooks County School System and was well known by many in the community. He enjoyed life and loved his family and friends. He could often be found sitting on the porch or in his room playing his guitar. George leaves to cherish his memories, two loving sisters, Mamie Curtis, of Quitman, GA and Joyce (Charles Sr.) Brooks of Dixie, GA; two devoted brothers, Henry Thomas of Tallahassee, FL and Willie Thomas of Quitman, GA; two caring sisters-in-law, Roxanne Thomas of Quitman, GA and Wanda Thomas of Tallahassee, FL and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all miss him dearly.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 11AM-6PM.
A celebration of life will be Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 4PM at Friendship AME Church with Apostle Frank Goins, officiating. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration on Sunday.
