Jerry Copeland Gilbert was born August 30, 1947, in Quitman, Georgia to the late Mr. Meadows and Mrs. Georgia "Mae" Gilbert. He is also preceded in death by his brother, James Gilbert, and his aunt, Louise Copeland Taylor.
A lifelong member and trustee of Welcome Hope Christian Church, Jerry graduated from Washington Street High School, Washington Technical Institute College, and American University. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and spent his career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation before retiring and moving back to his family home in Barney, Georgia in 2001.
Jerry Gilbert leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Gloria Plant Gilbert; one daughter, Monica Yvette Gilbert Dennis (Todd Dennis), Stratford, Connecticut; one son, Erick DeVonne Gilbert (Bernadette Taylor), Ellenwood, Georgia; three grandsons, Isaiah Javon Dennis, Jaylen Kyree Gilbert, and Jordan Riley Gilbert; and one granddaughter, Amayah Renee Dennis. He leaves also several sisters- and brothers-in law and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 3PM-7PM.
Home going services will be Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 11AM at Welcome Hope Christian Church with Rev. Jackie Hargrow, officiating.
