Obituary For Jessie Inez Walker

Jessie Inez Walker, affectionately known as Inez, passed away surrounded by the love of her family and friends. A devoted mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend, Inez leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and unwavering love.

Born in Barwick, Georgia, to Tommy Lee Wyche and Rudell Wyche, Inez was raised with strong values that guided her throughout her life. She graduated from Thomas County Central High School, where she was a proud Yellow Jacket and maintained a lifelong connection to her community and school spirit.

Inez dedicated more than 30 years of her life to the nursing profession. Her caring heart, gentle spirit, and commitment to helping others touched countless patients, families, and coworkers. Nursing was more than a career for Inez—it was her calling. Throughout her years of service, she built lasting relationships with colleagues who became a cherished part of her extended work family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Walker.

Inez was a loving and devoted mother to Terrance Vinson, Eric Wright, and Kendrick Gray. Her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Eric Sharod Wright Jr., Ziyonne Anthony Wright, Jalen Amari Wright, Pilar Elisabeth Vinson, Karson Isiah Gray, Piper Kennedy Vinson, and Sariah Shinez Wright, Kyjin Gray along with many other family members whose lives were enriched by her love and guidance.

She is also survived by her brothers, Channon Wyche, Leon Wyche, J.C. Hollis, and Lamar Hollis; and her beloved sisters and cousins, Brenda Broger, Tonya Barber, Cassandra Smith, and Deborah McCloud. In addition to her family, Inez leaves behind a host of dear friends, coworkers, and loved ones who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.

Inez will be remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, strength, wisdom, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met. Her life was a testament to service, love, and resilience. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and expressions of love during this difficult time.

Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home chapel from 4PM-7PM.

Home going celebration will be Saturday at 11AM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 505 E. Force Street, Valdosta, GA. Burial will be held at The Barwick Cemetery in Barwick, GA. Visit this website to view a livestream of the celebration.
