Obituary For Kara Sneed

Kara Michelle Sneed, daughter of Kenneth and the late Cora Sneed, was born on March 14, 1965. She departed this life and began her new spiritual journey on the evening of July 18, 2026.

She joined the Aucilla Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where was a member of the junior choir and served on the Mayetta Ivey Missionary Society. She received her education in the Thomasville City Public School System where she developed a fondness for reading and exploring various pursuits such as photography. She then went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Marketing from Thomas University. Kara worked many years in several healthcare systems since she enjoyed serving others to improve the quality of their lives as her calling. Most notably, she worked for the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), where she spent over 27 years serving in the lab as a phlebotomist and a phlebotomy Supervisor. Here she enjoyed walking the halls of the hospital where she became known as “Sunshine” due to her smiling and encouraging demeanor to the many patients who were in need. For this she was awarded the HCA quality award for excellence and customer service.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through the following: Her beloved daughter Myetta (Mimi) Michella Iris McClendon of Thomasville GA; Also, her father (Kenneth Sneed, Sr) of Thomasville, GA, she leaves to mourn her two sisters, Anges F. Gibbs (James) of Columbia SC; Dr. Roslyn Laverne Wells (David) of Augusta, GA; and (2) brothers: James Ronald Nixon of Thomasville Ga, and Kenneth Sneed, Jr.

Her legacy continues through her many nieces and nephews: Cotrell Wilson, Columbia SC; Grier Wilson (Michelle), Columbia SC; Qunicy Wells, Augusta GA; Ivory Otisi,Columbia SC; and Leah Wells Carlton (Steve), Augusta Ga. She also loved and embraced her many great nieces and nephews: Jasmin H. Wilson, Columbia SC; Sheldon B. Wilson, Columbia SC; Quincy Wells (II), Augusta GA; Jonahtan Curry, Charlotte NC; and Liam Carlton, Augusta GA.

The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to her beloved daughter, Myetta “Mimi” for her serving as a devoted caregiver and daughter, wearing many hats to her beloved mother and our sister. The family also expresses the great care from the Davita Georgia and Hypertension Clinic and the Colquitt Regional Center for their exceptional care during her visits there.

Many thanks to the many other family members, loved ones and friends who’ve shared the journey with our sister. We also thank all friends, coworkers and loved ones for their prayers, visits, and comforting calls during this time of bereavement.

Kara Michelle Sneed life was more than years lived – it was a legacy built, a legacy of sharing, service to others and a helpful spirit to her friends and many others. She will forever remain in our hearts and to those who loved her.

Visitation will be Saturday at the Stevens McGhee chapel from 1-5PM.

A celebration of life will be Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 2PM at St. Luke CME church, 305 Chatham Drive, Thomasville, GA. Livestream will be available on this website.
