Obituary For Little David Bartee

The late Mr. David Bartee, Sr., was called home on Monday, October 2, 2023, in Valdosta, Georgia.

Mr. David Bartee, Sr., was a native of Brooks County. He attended the Brooks County School System, and he was well known by many in the community.

He became a member of Laurel Street Church of Christ at an early age. David Bartee, Sr., was born August 21, 1947, to the late Mrs. Essie and Mr. James Bartee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joyce Sirmans; son David Bartee, Jr.; sister, Lizzie Mae Thompkins; and brothers, Jimmy Bartee, Sr., Melvin Bartee, Jerry Bartee, Sr., and Willie James Bartee, Sr.

David leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Betty Bartee of Quitman, Georgia; his beloved children, Emma Robinson (Willie) and Carla Folsom both of Valdosta, Georgia; Adrain Hardge (Travis), Jacqueline Thomas, Ronald Thomas (Diane), and Darrell Thomas all of Quitman, Georgia; four sisters, Alberta Powell, Roxanna Thomas, Betty Newsome, and Shirley Hollis all of Outman, Georgia; three very special sisters-in-law, Elnora Bartee and Mattie Thomas of Quitman, Georgia; Hazel Bartee of Boston, Massachussetts; one special brother-in-law, Terrell Thomas; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; two special friends ,Mrs. Daisy Mae Thompkins and Brian; and a host of special nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2023 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 3PM-7PM.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 3PM at Courtland Avenue Church of Christ in Quitman, GA with Bro. Orr, officiating. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery. Visit this webiste or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
