Liza Lue Stokes Cole, was born on February 8, 1930 to Charlie Stokes and Lena Lucille NelmStokes and wife to her husband Robert Bernard Cole of 65 years who proceeded her in death. She was mother to Curtis Lee Cole (deceased); Beatha Cole Brown (David/deceased); Eula Mae Cole Sheppard (Ralph/deceased); Robert Lee Cole Jr. (deceased); Patrica Ann Cole McQueen (Al/deceased) and George Cole (Emma). She passed away on September 23, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer and complication from a stroke. Her final moments were spent peacefully at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by her family.
Known for her loving personality and personal passion to help others which was a direct reflection in her performance while employed at the Presbyterian Home and Retirement Community for over 40 years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her due to the numerous calls and inquiries on her homecoming celebration services. The Cole family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
Liza was a hard-working mother who balances two jobs and family, providing financial support, emotional guidance, and a strong role model for her children, often overcoming challenges like long hours, early mornings, or tough financial circumstances to ensure her family's well-being and success. She found ways to be present for her children, whether through daily routines, involvement in their lives, or providing opportunities for education and growth, demonstrating that it's possible to be a joyful, hard-working person and a devoted mother simultaneously.
Liza’s two major strong suits were:
-Inspiring Role Model: Her dedication and strength serve as a powerful example, inspiring her children and others to work hard, pursue their own goals, and believe in their ability to achieve anything they set their minds to.
-Teaching Life Lessons: She teaches valuable lessons about self-confidence, the importance of hard work, and resilience in the face of adversity, shaping her children, grandchildren and others in need into successful and strong individuals.
Lastly, Liza was able to ensure the Cole and Stokes legendary survive the test of time by having the pleasure of being the grandparents to 16 grand-children; 15 great-grand-children; 5 great-great grand.
