Macon Barkley, Jr. was born November 21, 1947 to the late M.C. Barkley and the late Mildred Barkley-Little. He was preceded in death by his Sister, the late Gloria Dean Davis. He was baptized into the Lord’s Church at the Oak Street Church of Christ in Lakeland, Georgia.
He graduated in 1968 from Washington Street High School in Quitman, Georgia. He was a man of many talents; a Painter, Truck Driver, Police Officer, Dog Catcher, Soldier, Machine Operator(Dairy Queen), Railroad, Paper Mill and Construction Worker.
He leaves to mourn three children; Darius (Ramona) Barkley of Valdosta, Georgia, Keith (Angel) Barkley of Killeen, Texas and Cedrick (Jenelle) Barkley of Killeen, Texas; a host of grandchildren; Two sisters, Blonde McCullen of Valdosta, Georgia and Patricia Little of Quitman, Georgia; One Brother,Frank Barkley of Valdosta, Georgia; Best Friend William “Tank” Hill of Quitman, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 6PM-7PM.
Home going services will be Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11AM at Shumate Church of Christ with Bro. Tony Herring, Sr, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah MB Church Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.

Macon will be missed so much, I had the pleasure of being one of his nurses at the Villa.I will truly miss him calling my name and sitting and talking to him. He was such a good hearted man. My sincere condolences to the Barkley family!
Uncle Macon was a kind and gentle soul who had a big contagious smile. When we were jus kids,I remembered Uncle Macon would throw us onto the back of his pickup truck and take us to pick fresh peaches, watermelons whatever was season during Georgia's hot Summers. My deepest condolences to the Barkley Family.
