Mr. Marven E. Chappell II “ Sugaman”

Marven Eugene Chappell II was born on November 22, 1983 to the late Marven Eugene Chappell Sr. and Ree’na Robinson in Valdosta, Ga. He departed this side of heaven November 2, 2025 in Dixie, GA.

Marven was raised in Thomas and Brooks County, where he grew up in Christ, attending church with his grandparents and parents at Friendship AME Church. With a quench to follow the word and grow closer in the Lord, he would visit several services with his cousin “Coco” looking forward to good preaching and soulful singing! Later in his adult life he became a member of New Grove Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastoralship of Reverend Larry D. Lewis, Jr.

Marven attended both Thomas and Brooks County School Systems, where all of the teachers and staff commended him for being a well-mannered and respectful young man. He wore the Trojan colors with pride and represented the infamous Brooks County High School Graduating Class of 2002.

As a young child, Marven was always lovable and affectionate. Giving hugs and “suga” (kisses) were normal gestures that led to his mother nicknaming him “Sugaman”; a name that would follow him through life in which he truly lived up to. Much like his father, Sugaman’s outgoing personality and jovial spirit allowed him to meet no strangers. To know him was to love him, and if he ever said “I love you”, he meant it!

Through this heartfelt loss, Sugaman was preceded in death by his father, Marven Eugene Chappell Sr., Step-father, Wibert Timms, Jr. “Jugg”, his grandparents, Mrs. Arnie Rene Peterson (Robert Lee), Mr. Eugene Chappell, and Mr. Mack E. Robinson. Also preceding him in death is his brother, Christopher Marven Hallman, beloved son Pharell Cowser Chappell, and nephew Tysen McCoy.

He leaves behind a lifetime of laughter and beautiful memories to his adored Mother, Ms. Ree’na Robinson, Quitman, GA, Step-mother, Mary Chappell, Dixie, GA, and last living grand-parent Ms. Mabel L. Robinson, Dixie, GA. A loving fiance’, Ms. Joyce Vick-Chappell, Dixie, GA, his legacy, three handsome sons, Jaylin Chappell (Felicitee), Ft. Walton Beach FL, Mayson Chappell, Hahira, GA and Alex Henderson II “AJ”, Dixie, GA. One cherished grand-son, “Papa’s Big Man” Legend Amir Chappell. Six beautiful sisters, Lakeisha Chappell Crumbry (Chris), Dixie, GA, Erin Carter-McCormick (Quinn), Lake Park, GA, Yolanda Millings (Will), Felicia Chappell, Tiesha Chappell, all of Valdosta , GA, La’Teisha Stephens, Quitman, GA, and one treasured brother, Tyrese Chappell, Quitman, GA. Continuing the legacy is a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at The Church of God Tabernacle in Quitman, Georgia with Pastor Solomon Edwards, Jr. officiating. Burial followed at the Pineview Church on Empress Road in Quitman.
