Mary Smith was born on May 16th, 1945, to the late Rebecca and William Golden Sr of Quitman Ga. She was educated in the Brooks County school system. Mary was employed at Parkwood Development Center as an CNA for over 30yrs in Valdosta, Ga., she also worked at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Ga. and retired from Fellowship Home in Valdosta ga.
On June 8th, 1970, Mary entered holy matrimony to Mr. Willie James Smith Sr. of Valdosta Ga. Mary was a faithful member of West Hill Church of Christ where she was on the kitchen staff until she fell ill. Mary enjoyed life and she cherished time with her kids, family, and friends. She shared countless moments of memories filled with laughter and love until her last days. She was devoted to her family, especially to her children and grandchildren.
On February 7th, 2026, God called her home to her eternal resting place. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Willie James Smith Sr., brothers John Golden, Edward Miller, sisters, Shirley Ann Horton, and Earnestine Gertman.
Mary leaves behind to mourn her eight devoted children Remer Arnold (Dianne) of Quitman Ga., Keith Golden (Dalphne), Lisa Rogers (James), Tonya Jackson, Diane Mathis (Terrence), Teresa Smith Core (Saul), and Travoris Smith (Mary) and stepson Ronnie Barnard Smith all of Valdosta Ga.
Seven grandchildren, Yasmine Golden, Anthony Golden, Alisha Golden, Alexandria Golden, Tarnija Hicks, Cameron Mathis, and Jonathan Johnson Jr. And seven great-grandchildren.
One loving sister Beverly Little (Joseph) of St. Petersburg Fla., one loving sister-in-law Patricia Golden of Quitman Ga., six brothers Frank Golden (Minerva), of Quitman Ga.
William Golden (Denise) of Atlanta Ga., Aaron Miller of Valdosta, Ga., Richard Golden (Andrea, of Quitman Ga. Willie James Golden (Patricia), of Valdosta ga. one special sister-in-law Willena Huntley of Valdosta Ga. Two God daughters Ashley Baynard of Quitman Ga., Rebecca Williams of Valdosta Ga. Special cousins Dorothy Sharpe and Virgina Howard both of Valdosta, Ga. And host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Evangel Temple in Valdosta, Georgia with Bishop Keith Golden officiating and Pastor Remer Arnold presiding. Burial followed at Southview Cemetery in Valdosta.
