Mr. Michael Walker, 71
Mr. Michael Ray Walker was born on January 24, 1949 in Waco, Texas to the late Mr. Jesse Walker, Sr. and Mrs. Willie V. Walker. He was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church until the Lord called him home on July 13, 2020 in Valdosta, Georgia. Along with being a Deacon, he served in many positions. Michael retired from the United States Army after serving over 20 years. He was a dedicated worker at Sam’s Club for over 20 years until his demise. He was a member of Kemet Universal Masonic Lodge, Sons of Solomon Lodge 151, a past Master and 33rd Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents; son, Derrick D. Walker; Mother-n-law, Rudell Wyche; and sister-in-law, Wanda Kay Hood.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving devoted wife of 19 years, Inez Walker; three step sons to this marriage, Terrance (Marlo), Atlanta, GA, Kendrick, Hahira, GA, and Eric, Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Yolanda Walker, Waco, Texas and Micha (Patrick) Degrate; brothers, Jesse Walker, Jr., Darrell Hood, Texas and Alvin (Sharon) Taylor; sisters, Diana McClain (Leonard), Shreveport, LA, Trudy Hood, Johnny May Walker, Shirley Jean Walker, and Thelma Walker, Texas; Father-in-law, Tommy Wyche, Pavo, GA; two brothers-in-law, Leon Wyche, Pavo, GA and Chanmon (Ann Wyche), Killeen, TX; a special friend, Deacon Russell Mitchell; and brothers in Christ, Deacon Greg Anderson, Deacon Matt Williams, and Deacon Perry Tillman and a host of relatives and friends.
Private services were Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Barwick Cemetery with Pastor David Adams officiating. Video streaming can be accessed at stevensmcgheefuneralhome.com as well as condolences. Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home of Quitman was in charge of the arrangements.

I met Michael in Germany, 1987. He was a great guy, Sergeant, and mentor. Some our old crew from Germany have been trying to find him.I just found out today that he is no longer with us.
