Obituary For Nathaniel Terry Turner

Nathaniel “Terry” Turner answered the call from labor to rest on April 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Born on November 16, 1952, in Brooks County, Georgia, Terry was the beloved son of the late Eva Morrow Turner and Gordon Turner. At an early age he joined the New Grove Baptist Church in Pavo, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ronald and Ralph Turner.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Inez Parson on December 21, 1975, and was a devoted husband for over 50 years. Family was the center of Terry’s life. And he absolutely adored his role of Papa.

He served in several capacities with the Brooks County School System and retired with over 28 years of service. Terry was also a successful entrepreneur and owned and operated Terry’s Lawn Care for over 20 years.

Terry’s love for the Brooks County community ran deep. He was well known and well loved, especially for his decades of service as President of the Brooks County Touchdown Club.

For over 20 years, he championed Trojan Football and the young people who played it. He served as a little league coach for many years, helping to shape successful athletes. Terry possessed a special gift for showing up for others — he would do anything for anyone in need. He helped quietly, humbly, and from the heart, never wanting public acknowledgment. Additionally, he served his community through The Benny Wooten Foundation, The Brothers Organization, and many more.

He leaves to mourn his devoted wife of over 50 years: Inez Turner of Dixie, GA; son: Rodney (Lorna) Turner of Boston, GA; two daughters: Natalie Foster of Valdosta, GA and Joveta Turner of Bonaire, GA; four grandchildren: Rodajahion Turner of Griffin, GA; Trinity and Tristan Foster of Valdosta, GA; and Jaxon Smith of Bonaire, GA; four sisters: Merita Tucker of Dixie, GA; Barbara (Lamont) Murrill of Chesapeake, VA; Fran Hudson of East Point, GA; Angela (Cedric) Nelson of Chesterfield, VA; two brothers: Billy(Alicia) Turner of Virginia Beach, VA and James Turner of Atlanta, GA; his “Ride or Die” Quad Squad: Jamon Williams, Jimmy Wilson, Allen Mitchell, and Leroy Whitlock; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Terry’s kindness, his community spirit, and his genuine love for people will be remembered by all.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Quitman, Georgia with Pastor Solomon Edwards, Jr. officiating the eulogy and Pastor Calvin Williams moderating. Burial followed at Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery in Quitman.
