To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die.
~ Ecclesiastes 3:1.2
Nelvine Barnes was born on December 4, 1925 to the late Prinkleton Barnes and Janie Wright Barnes in Tillman, SC. She was the eldest of 11 children. Nel, as she was affectionately called, was the beloved mother of 7 children. She was preceded in death by her son, Eugene Thompson, and 8 of her siblings. In 1949, she accepted God's loving call and was baptized in the Seventh-day Adventist Message. Shortly after, she relocated to Miami, FL where she became a faithful member of the Miami Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church. While there, she faithfully served as a member of the Senior Usher Board, King's Daughters, and the Gospel Choir, and willingly served in other capacities as needed.
The scenery for Nelvine changed in 2012, when she relocated to Dixie, GA. There she joined the Dixie Seventh-day Adventist Church Family in Outman. GA where she was loved sincerely. She was known as Mama Thompson and even in her 90s took an interest in the health and fitness club of the church.
