R.D. Davis, Jr. was born in Quitman, GA on September 20, 1936 to R.D. Davis, Sr. and Mary Davis. He entered eternal rest on December 29, 2022.
R.D. was preceded in death by his parents R.D. Davis, Sr. and Mary Davis, his daughter, Regina Davis, five sisters: Betty Head, Elizabeth Williams, Joan Davis, Shirley Moody, Deborah Davis and two brothers, Willie Davis and Joe Davis.
R.D. matriculated through Brooks County Public Schools. He then later moved to Naples, Florida where he worked over 45 years as a supervisor for Better Roads, Inc. He then became owner of Davis Bros. Asphalt Sealcoating, LLC. And spent the last 14 years of his life in retirement.
R.D. is survived by his wife Audrey Davis of Naples, FL and 7 children; Daryl Davis of Atlanta, GA, Sabrina Davis of Ft. Myers, FL., Sharon Wilson of Naples, FL, Daniel Davis of St. Petersburg, FL, Joycelyn Sparks of Naples, FL and Cynthia Davis of Naples, FL. He also leaves to cherish his memory 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition, he is survived by four sisters, Delois Benford (Willie) of Valdosta, GA., Mary Butler of Valdosta, GA., Ada Whitaker (Doug) of Dallas, TX., Marjorie Mosley (Michael) of Quitman, GA; Two brothers, Tommy Davis (Barbara) of Washington, D.C. and Wesley Davis of Valdosta, GA. Three special sister-in-laws, Carolyn Jackson of Lakeland, FL, Marjorie Davis of Los Angeles, CA and Liz Davis of Valdosta, GA and a host of other cousins, relatives and sorrowing friends.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11AM at Bethel AME Church with Bishop Dr. Tim Jackson, eulogist. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 6PM-7PM. Visit this website to extend condolences to the family.
